Mark Masur (Partner)
Mr. Masur practices in the areas of personal injury, wrongful death, and workers’ compensation. He has been recognized by his peers as among the top five percent of all Illinois lawyers in personal injury and workers’ compensation litigation and has received the highest rating for integrity by his peers. He has obtained settlements in excess of a million dollars on behalf of many injured people. He is recognized as a leader in the field of work injuries and is widely respected for his knowledge and skill.
He was admitted to the practice of law in Illinois in 1989. He is also admitted to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
He graduated from Brentwood High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1982. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1986 and his law degree, with distinction, from John Marshall Law School in 1989.
Mr. Masur has been named among the top One Percent of all lawyers nationwide by the National Association of Distinguished Counsel and he has been selected as one of the “Top 100 Trial Lawyers” in Illinois by the National Trial Lawyers Association. He has been named a “Leading Lawyer” by survey of his peers, signifying that he is among the top 5 percent of all Illinois lawyers in the field of personal injury and workers’ compensation litigation. Mr. Masur was selected as a part of the "10 Best" for Client Satisfaction by the American Institute of Personal Injury Attorneys for 2015, 2016 and 2017. Mr. Masur has also been named a “Super Lawyer” in workers’ compensation litigation by survey of his peers, a distinction likewise limited to the top 5 percent of all lawyers who practice in Illinois. Since 2005, Mr. Masur has been named a "Super Lawyer" 12 times, including his 2021 selection. He was inducted into the Brentwood High School Hall of Fame in 2012 (Pennsylvania).
He has been a frequent lecturer and moderator at continuing legal education programs in the area of workers’ compensation and personal injury sponsored by the Kane County Bar Association (KCBA). He has served as chairman of the Worker’s Compensation Committee for the Kane County Bar Association on numerous occasions.
- Obtained $4,850,000.00 for a 45 year old who was involved in a motor vehicle accident sustaining orthopaedic injuries requiring multiple surgeries. Plaintiff was unable to return to his occupation as a mail carrier.
- Obtained $1,234,607 in Kane County on behalf of the parents and sibling of an unmarried 16-year-old who died in an automobile accident.
- Obtained $1,050,000 in Kane County on behalf of the parents and siblings of an unmarried 24-year-old woman who died in an automobile accident.
- Obtained $1 million policy limits in Kane County on behalf of the adult children of 66 and 67 year old parents who died in an automobile accident.
- Obtained $900,000 in Kane County on behalf of a 52-year-old who lost his spleen, sustained left elbow injuries (surgically repaired twice) and disfigurement in an automobile accident.
- Obtained $770,000 for a 47 year old iron worker who sustained significant right shoulder injuries, surgically repaired and a left ankle injury.
- Obtained $750,000 in Kane County on behalf of the adult children of a 45 year old man who died in an automobile accident in which liability was seriously disputed.
- Obtained $609,971.65 for a 52 year old construction worker who was unable to return to his usual occupation after a crushing foot/ankle injury.
- Kus v Sherman Hospital (2d Dist. 1990) 204 Ill. App. 3d 66, 561 N.E.2d. 381: Successfully argued that it was error to deny plaintiff leave to file health professional report after trial court ruled that complaint against hospital sounded in healing art malpractice.
He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA), the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association (ILTLA), the American Association for Justice (AAJ), the Kane County Bar Association (KCBA) and the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Association (WCLA).

Mr. Masur was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, March 19, 1964. He is a resident of Naperville. He has been married to his wife, Terese, for more than 26 years, and they have three children, Markian, Alec and Hannah.
He is an active member of St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, having served as its elected Parish Council President on numerous occasions.
